Kudos to my good friend Ann, we now have some crispy-clear HQ photos of Alyssa arriving at the Jimmy Kimmel Live set! Enjoy the new additions – and make sure you scroll down to watch the full interview!
The actress, who also stars in ABC’s new drama “Mistresses,” will join returning judges Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman.
Alyssa Milano has her next project all sewn up. The actress has signed on as the new host of Lifetime’s design competition Project Runway All Stars, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
She will join returning judges Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman for the third season, which begins production in New York in June for a fall premiere.
The designers who will be competing for another shot at the crown have not yet been announced. Previous winners include Mondo Guerra (season one) and Anthony Ryan Auld (season two).
Milano, who follows in the footsteps of previous hosts Angela Lindvall (season one) and Carolyn Murphy (season two), is no stranger to the design world: She has her own clothing and jewelry line, Touch by Alyssa Milano, featuring pro-sports-themed apparel for women.
Milano’s Project Runway All Stars role also reunites her with the network for which she previously starred in the movies Sundays at Tiffany’s and Wisegal, the latter of which she also produced.
Meanwhile, the actress also returns to the small screen Monday night on ABC’s new drama series Mistresses. The show, based on the U.K. series, centers on the scandalous lives of a sexy and sassy group of four girlfriends, each on her own path to self-discovery.
Mistresses, which premieres at 10 p.m., also stars Yunjin Kim, Rochelle Ayte, Jes Macallan, Brett Tucker, Jason George and Erik Stocklin.
Milano’s other TV credits include WB Network’s Charmed, NBC’s My Name Is Earl and ABC’s Romantically Challenged. She most recently was seen on the big screen in New Year’s Eve and Hall Pass. She also released the book Safe at Home: Confessions of a Baseball Fanatic, which chronicles her passion for baseball and how her love for the game has helped shape who she is.
She is repped by CAA and manager Jason Barrett at Alchemy.
Project Runway All Stars is produced by The Weinstein Co. and Bunim/Murray Productions. Executive producers include TWC’s Harvey Weinstein, Bob Weinstein, Meryl Poster and Barbara Schneeweiss; Bunim/Murray’s Jonathan Murray and Gil Goldschein; Rob Bagshaw (Top Chef Masters); and Lifetime’s Rob Sharenow, Gena McCarthy and David Hillman.
As many of you probably know, “Mistresses” premieres tonight on ABC! The New York times has posted a review of the series, which you can read below. Sounds promising – are you all as excited as I am!?
Summer beach reading for those with portable video capability has arrived. “Mistresses” makes its debut on Monday night on ABC, and it’s everything you want a beach book to be: sexy but not pornographic; nontaxing yet not idiotic; and peppered with enough decent writing that you can tolerate its clichés.
The drama, which is based on a British series, follows four longtime friends who either have been a mistress, are affected by a mistress or seem liable to become a mistress. The stars — Alyssa Milano, Yunjin Kim, Jes Macallan and Rochelle Aytes — do the Four Musketeers thing pretty well, and all of them elevate the material. And it needs occasional elevating. Just when the show builds up some believability, it grasps for a not-very-credible crutch.
Ms. Milano plays Savi, a lawyer who is trying to have a child with her husband, a chef. Ms. Kim is Karen, a psychiatrist who slept with a married, terminally ill patient and, now that he is dead, is finding that this is having unexpected consequences. Ms. Macallan is Josslyn, a real estate agent and Savi’s slutty sister. Ms. Aytes is April, a widow who has a 10-year-old daughter and is reluctant to start dating again.
The first two episodes give each character a complication or two, some more complicated than others. To stitch it all together, the writers have a tendency to resort to stock devices that flatten rather than enrich the characters. A grown woman can’t dress for a date without summoning all of her friends for advice. Harry (Brett Tucker), Savi’s otherwise 21st-century husband, turns ragingly retro when a doctor tells the couple that their lack of reproductive success is attributable to him. Karen, an educated, intelligent woman, is made to sound like a naïve 20-year-old when talking about her lover’s death.
“In the end he chose his wife: that’s who he wanted to be with in his last moments,” she says. “Which means the whole time I was just” — and here there’s a pause to allow her I.Q. to drop — “a mistress.”
The bar is pretty high now for women-behaving-carnally TV, between HBO’s relatively fearless “Girls” and the high-stakes hanky-panky of ABC’s “Scandal.” Yes, we’re in a beach-reading state of mind now, and “Mistresses” is allowed to be more lowbrow than those shows, but please, not ditzy.
ABC, Monday nights at 10, Eastern and Pacific times; 9, Central time.
Produced by ABC Studios. Based on the British series; Rina Mimoun, K. J. Steinberg, Robert Sertner and Douglas Rae, executive producers.
WITH: Alyssa Milano (Savannah Davis), Yunjin Kim (Karen Kim), Rochelle Aytes (April Malloy), Jes Macallan (Josslyn Carver), Brett Tucker (Harry Davis), Jason George (Dominic Taylor) and Erik Stocklin (Sam Gray).

She is drumming up publicity for her new TV show and Alyssa Milano certainly managed to ensure all eyes were on her on Tuesday.
The Charmed star looked lovely as she tried out a new look with a preppy outfit for an appearance on Extra.
The actress was promoting Mistresses and was joined by her co-stars Rochelle Aytes, Jes Macallan, Yunjin Kim at The Grove in West Hollywood for filming.Alyssa, 40, chose a cute and colourful creation in the form of a bright orange top with white collar and trim.
The top was tucked into a white skater skirt which showed off Alyssa’s long legs and she teamed it with matching strappy sandals.
She also wore a pair of oversized sunglasses and completed her look by styling her caramel coloured locks into a retro quiff.
Despite her glowing appearance, Alyssa in fact must have been exhausted as she revealed she had been up since 3am that morning.
She tweeted on Monday:
‘Have to be up at 3am tomorrow for a big day of press for @Mistresses_ABC with my girls @jesmacallan, @rochelleaytes and #yunjinkim!’
It wasn’t just a busy day for Alyssa as she also had a jam-packed evening, flocking to the audience of Dancing With The Stars.
