Like most parents, Alyssa Milano is proud of her child’s achievements—but in her case, she has every reason to brag. The actress, who celebrated her 40th birthday in December with a ’90s-themed party, told Us Weekly her son Milo “started talking at four months, he started crawling at five months, and he started walking at 12 months! He thinks he’s 12 years old!”
The adorable 18-month-old may be joined by another baby genius soon: Milano and her husband David Bugliari are talking about expanding their family. “We’re not actively trying, but we’re not not trying, if that makes sense,” said the actress at the Feb. 7 pre-Grammy Awards party at the Getty House in L.A.
Milano, who is returning to the small screen in ABC’s upcoming midseason series Mistresses, also gushed about her son. “He’s kind of got the best of both of us, I think,” she mused. “I think he’s a lot more of a showman than I was at that age. He likes to perform already. He loves animals, which he gets from me.” (The family has five dogs, ten horses, and chickens.)
Given Milo’s love of the spotlight, would Milano mind if he became an actor like Mommy? “Before I had a child I would have said, ‘Absolutely not, he’s not doing it.’ But I’ve realized since having him that the most important thing as a parent is to cultivate and nurture who they innately are and to be supportive of who they are,” she said. “So if he were to decide that he wanted to try that out, I think I would have to be supportive.”
In case you feel like you don’t have enough drama in your life, ABC is seeking to fill that void with Mistresses, an adaptation of the popular British series. The stateside cast includes Alyssa Milano and Lost’s Yunjin Kim as part of a group of girlfriends whose love lives are active and sexy, but very complicated. I gave the pilot a watch to bring you my verdict on Mistresses and whether you should set your DVR to record this soapy new series.
- What it’s about: Savannah (Milano), April (Rochelle Aytes), Josslyn (Jes Macallan), and Karen (Kim) are a tight-knit group of friends, and they’re each in a different transition in their love lives. Married Savannah is trying to get pregnant, widowed April is trying to date again, therapist Karen is getting over the death of her lover, and Jes is single and loving it — and she intends to stay that way. Each woman’s situation is far from smooth sailing, though, and the pilot introduces you to a series of dilemmas, most of them related to infidelity, as you could guess from the title.
- Where it works: Mistresses is addictive from the very first episode. It’s packed full of juicy story lines and sexy situations, like Savannah’s temptation to cheat on her husband with a sexy colleague, or a shocking revelation about April’s past, and I found myself dying to see what happens next.
- Where it doesn’t: The cast still needs to find their chemistry. Aside from Savannah and Josslyn, who are sisters, it’s not clear why these women are friends and spend time together. It’s melodramatic to the extreme (though if you’re into that, dive right in).
- You might like this show if: You miss shows like Lipstick Jungle and Desperate Housewives.
- When it’s on: May on ABC.

The Best Celebrity Baby Names in 2011 list is here. Among the most inspired parents, there are Ali Landry, Rachel Zoe, Pink, Tina Fey, Zac Brown, Alyssa Milano and Miranda Kerr. Stay with us to find out which names were the most creative and which were just too odd.
The best girl names were:
• Amaya – the name given to Mariska Haritgay’s baby daughter
• Penelope Athena – the name given by Tina Fey to her little girl
• Willow Sage – a name highly appreciated by Pink’s fans; name obviously given to Pink’s daughter
Mariah Carey, the diva mom of this year, had a cool idea of naming her twin daughter Monroe, after the Hollywood’s most famous blonde, Marilyn Monroe, but lost points with her son’s name: Moroccan Scott.
When it came to best boy’s names, here are the top ideas:
• Alyssa Milano’s Milo
• Rachel Zoe’s Skyler
• Miranda Kerr’s Flynn
• Ali Landry’s Marcelo
• Jenna Fischer’s Weston
Among the least inspired parents were Bryan Adams, who named his daughter Mirabella Bunny, Ethan Hawke, whose daughter’s name is Indiana, Mike Myers’ boy named Spike and Jennie Finch’s baby Diesel.
Alyssa Milano was “overwhelmed” by the birth of her baby.
The 39-year-old actress and her husband David Bugliari welcomed son Milo Thomas into the world in August.
Milo is Alyssa’s first child, and she found the labour an awe-inspiring experience.
“Overwhelming and beautiful and everything in between,” she replied when asked how the birth was. “It was a profound experience. I had moments of apprehension throughout my pregnancy but when those fears popped into my head, I just kept telling myself that this is what my body was made to do and to trust that I had all the tools to have a healthy labour and delivery.”
Alyssa’s life feels complete now she has her baby.
The stunning star was overcome with emotions when she first set eyes on her newborn son.
“The first time I saw Milo I finally understood my purpose in life,” she gushed to OK! magazine.
“I think it was more emotional than I thought it would be. Even now, I can’t really put it into words how I felt. To be honest, I can’t even put into words the love I feel now when I look at him.”
